Murray restructured his contract with the Vikings, Andrew Krammer of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Most of the contract restructures at this time of year merely convert base salaries into signing bonuses, pushing the cap hit into future seasons to free up room for the current year. Murray may actually have taken some form of pay cut, as his $5.1 million non-guaranteed base salary for 2018 feels a bit pricey for a guy who averaged 3.9 yards on 216 carries and 6.9 yards on 15 receptions last season. The Vikings do have a need for his services, given that Jerick McKinnon is signing with San…read more

Uncertain to return to Minnesota in 2018
Vikings general manager Rick Spielman suggested Wednesday that Murray isn't guaranteed to return to the team in 2018, Andrew Krammer of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. "We've discussed a lot of things," Spielman said when asked if the Vikings were set with Dalvin Cook (knee) and Murray as the team's primary running backs next season. "We're very excited, Dalvin continues to rehab. We're very excited about the progress he's making and anxious to see what we are with him in the fold along with whatever combination is there."
Analysis: Though Spielman didn't say explicitly that Murray wouldn't be retained, it's clear the Vikings are still weighing whether the 28-year-old is worth bringing back at a cap hit of $6.35 million for 2018, which would make him one of the higher-paid running backs in the league. While Murray gave the Vikings quality production upon stepping in as the primary back once Cook suffered a season-ending ACL tear in Week 4, finishing with a team-high 842 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, it may be…read more

Murray rushed six times for 18 yards while bringing in both of his targets for 11 yards during Sunday's 38-7 loss to the Eagles in the NFC championship game.
Analysis: Murray struggled to find holes in the Eagles' tough run defense and his usage was blunted once the Vikings were forced to abandon the run game. He now finishes the postseason having averaged an inefficient 2.7 yards on 25 carries after averaging 3.9 yards on 216 carries during the regular season. Under contract with Minnesota for another two seasons, Murray is set to return in 2018 as the clear No. 2 runner on the depth chart behind Dalvin Cook (knee), as teammate Jerick McKinnon will be an…read more

Murray rushed 19 times for 50 yards and one touchdown while catching both of his targets for 17 yards during Sunday's 29-24 NFC divisional-round victory over the Saints.
Analysis: Murray surprisingly wasn't able to get much going against a Saints run defense that allowed the fifth-most yards per carry during the regular season. Teammate and fellow tailback Jerick McKinnon, who carried eight times for 34 yards and a score, was much more effective with his touches. Tougher sledding is sure to come in next week's NFC championship game against an Eagles team that's allowed just 3.8 yards this season, but it can't be ignored that Murray has averaged over four red-zone carries…read more

Murray had 20 carries for 111 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's win over Chicago. He also had one reception for three yards.
Analysis: Murray finishes the regular season with eight rushing touchdowns. He has eight in his last ten games after getting a larger workload after the season-ending injury to Dalvin Cook in Week 4. He should be set to get a heavy workload again in Minnesota's playoff game at home after a bye.

Murray notched 21 carries for 69 yards and caught his sole target for six yards during Saturday's 16-0 win in Green Bay.
Analysis: Murray's 22 touches outpaced all of his teammates by a long shot. As evidence, his four first-down runs were exactly half of Jerick McKinnon's entire workload (seven carries, one reception). Murray has now churned out 20-plus rushes in three of the last five games, a span in which he's averaged 76 yards from scrimmage per contest and two touchdowns. Due to the pounding taken during that stretch, he may be given a respite Week 17 if the Vikings lock up the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoffs by the…read more

Murray rushed 20 times for 76 yards and a touchdown while adding a 28-yard catch on his lone target in Sunday's 34-7 drubbing of the Bengals.
Analysis: Murray got the scoring started with a one-yard plunge in the first quarter and was clearly the go-to rushing option over Jerick McKinnon (nine carries for 24 yards). While McKinnon made his mark with over 100 yards as a receiver, Murray remains the better bet for short-yardage scores. The former Oakland running back now has six rushing touchdowns in his past eight games.

Murray said he still deals with general soreness in his surgically repaired ankle, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: This is at least the second time this season that Murray has mentioned the lingering effects of his March ankle surgery. Of course, it was a much bigger concern when he talked about the ankle in early October, at which point he'd taken only 14 carries for 38 yards in four games. He's since emerged as the more reliable half of a split backfield with Jerick McKinnon, averaging 3.9 yards per carry on 15.7 totes per game (60.9 yards) since Dalvin Cook suffered a torn ACL in Week 4. Murray rushed nine times for 14 yards and caught both of his targets for six yards in Sunday's 31-24 loss to Carolina.
Analysis: Murray got two more touches than Jerick McKinnon, but gained 35 fewer yards from scrimmage. The former Raiders running back came in with 323 yards and four touchdowns on the ground over the previous four weeks, so this performance should be viewed as an outlier rather than a precursor of more struggles to come.

Murray carried 16 times for 76 yards and caught all three targets for an additional 21 yards during Sunday's 14-9 win over the Falcons.
Analysis: Murray gashed the Falcons on several occasions, including a 30-yard gain where he bounced off multiple defenders before going to the ground. His contributions in the passing game marked his best performance of the season in that regard and he out-touched Jerick McKinnon yet again. Finds end zone in win
Murray rushed 20 times for 84 yards and a touchdown during Thursday's 30-23 win over Detroit.
Analysis: Somewhat quietly, Murray has now compiled 399 rushing yards and five scores through his past five games. He continues to split snaps and carries with Jerick McKinnon, but the timeshare hasn't significantly hindered the fantasy value of either back. After all, a two-man committee in a high-volume rushing attack still provides plenty of opportunities. Additionally, Murray's value is buoyed by his usage near the goal line, as he's now up to 27 red-zone carries through the past eight games.

Murray rushed 15 times for 95 yards and two touchdowns while also hauling in his only target for one yard in Sunday's 24-7 win over the Rams.
Analysis: Murray and Jerick McKinnon notably came within just one carry of a 50/50 split of rushing touches, but the former was clearly the more effective of the two. The five-year veteran equaled his best yards per carry figure of the season (6.3) while also logging his third and fourth rushing scores in the last four contests. Analysis: Murray got Minnesota on the board early with a one-yard plunge in the first quarter, his second touchdown in the past three games. Murray seems to have evened the score for, or maybe even taken, the role of Minnesota's top back in recent weeks. In the first two games after Dalvin Cook's ACL injury, Murray trailed Jerick McKinnon in touches 42 to 30. Analysis: Murray touched the ball a season-high 20 times in this one but couldn't get it going against an improved Cleveland defensive front. Jerick McKinnon managed 20 touches of his own, including 10 targets, and was much more effective in terms of total yardage. The two backs should continue splitting touches in Week 10 against the Redskins, but Murray will need to be more efficient with his opportunities to avoid losing shares to McKinnon.

The Vikings seemingly aren't quite ready to take that step, but Murray needs to improve quickly or else the team won't have much choice. Analysis: Jerick McKinnon should handle most of the pass-catching workload and some of the carries out of the backfield, but the Vikings have made it clear Murray will get the first crack at replacing Cook as the lead runner. While the former Raider is unlikely to match Cook's average of 21.3 touches per game, something in the range of 15-to-20 touches isn't out of the question. Ready for bigger workload despite ankle
Murray says he is still dealing with soreness in his surgically repaired ankle, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: Murray's recovery took longer than expected after he signed a three-year, $15 million contract with the Vikings in March. He's only had a bit role in the Minnesota offense through four weeks, but that's about to change now that Dalvin Cook (knee) is believed to have a season-ending injury. Analysis: Murray took over lead back duties after productive rookie Dalvin Cook exited with a knee injury in the third quarter. Last season's 12-touchdown campaign with Oakland showed that Murray's capable of handling a large workload and excelling while doing so.

Murray had two carries for six yards and lost a fumble on his first carry in Monday's win over New Orleans. He played just three snaps on offense.
Analysis: It was an overall terrible game for Murray's fantasy value. Losing a fumble won't install confidence with his new team and he had the third most touches in the backfield. Dalvin Cook played 51 snaps and McKinnon played 11 snaps. It was thought Murray could maybe split playing time at running back at the start of training camp or at least have a third-down role. Analysis: With Dalvin Cook sitting atop the depth chart and entering Week 1 as the lead back, goal-line work may represent Murray's only path to early-season fantasy relevance. He was one of the league's most effective goal-line backs last year, netting nine touchdowns on 16 carries from inside the 5-yard line, but it certainly helped that he was running behind Oakland's offensive line. Murray hasn't yet participated in a full practice as he returns from ankle surgery and it's not clear if he'll play in Minnesota's second preseason game this week against Seattle, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

He underwent surgery in March to remove bone spurs from his ankle and was only activated from the PUP list last week. Hopes to practice soon
Murray (ankle) is hoping to return to practice in the near future, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. "I had two really good [workouts], so things are good," Murray said Thursday. "It is [getting close]. ... I did a little bit of everything, so hopefully soon."
Analysis: Murray was encouraged after two days of individual work earlier this week, which marked the most activity he's managed on his ankle since bone spurs were removed in March. The Vikings followed up his signing that month with the selection of running back Dalvin Cook in the second round of the 2017 draft. But Oakland, led by over-matched rookie quarterback Connor Cook, could not move consistently, fell behind by multiple scores and largely abandoned a running game that never got going against the league's top-ranked defense.

Murray had just five carries for 11 yards and caught his lone target for 14 yards in Sunday's 24-6 loss at Denver.
Analysis: Up until last week, it looked like Murray had established himself as Oakland's true workhorse back, but DeAndre Washington has re-emerged over the last two games, rushing for 142 yards and two touchdowns. With Jalen Richard also in the mix for 6-to-10 touches per week, Murray doesn't appear to be that attractive of an option for fantasy owners participating in playoff leagues.

Murray carried 15 times for 40 yards Saturday against the Colts.
Analysis: The Raiders went with a three-headed attack at running back Saturday that resulted in a 15/12/3 carry distribution between Murray, DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard, respectively. Murray was the least effective of the bunch, though, and was the only one not to find the end zone. Things may only get worse before they get better too, as next week brings with it a difficult matchup against the Broncos in a game Oakland may be without starting quarterback Derek Carr (broken leg).

Analysis: Murray had been a workhorse back over the last few weeks, but the Raiders mixed in DeAndre Washington more Sunday, as he finished with five carries for 23 yards. Murray lost a fumble in the red zone early in the game and was stuffed a couple of times at the goal line in the second half. He'll look to reach the end zone next week against the Colts.

Only bright spot for offense Thursday
Murray gained 103 yards and scored a touchdown on 22 carries in Thursday's 21-13 loss to the Chiefs.
Analysis: Murray was about the only bright spot on a night where Derek Carr endured the worst game of his career and the frigid temperatures lent themselves well to the running game. It was only Murray's second 100-yard performance of the season, as well as his third straight game with at least one rushing touchdown. He was notably shut out in the passing game for the first time in 2016, however, but given his track record as an effective receiver ou of the backfield, this was likely just an outlier.…read more

Murray (ankle) ran 20 times for 82 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 38-24 win over the Bills. He also caught three of five targets for 23 yards.
Analysis: Murray ran well in the first half, carrying the ball eight times for 41 yards. He also had back-to-back receptions in the closing seconds of the first half to help set up a field goal by Sebastian Janikowski. The big and speedy RB has had a knack for scoring around the goal line this year, using jump moves and showing good awareness when getting the ball in that area of the field. While he hasn't accumulated big rushing numbers this season, he's been used more as a pass catcher as of late. In…read more

Active Sunday
Murray (ankle) is listed as active Sunday versus the Bills, Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Analysis: Each week since the Raiders' Week 10 bye, Murray has been contained to limited practices, and the cap in reps has paid off. In particular, he's averaged 90 yards from scrimmage per game and tallied one touchdown across two outings. Another fruitful performance could come to pass against a Buffalo defense that has allowed 97.2 rushing yards per game and five touchdowns to running backs over the last five tilts.

Murray (ankle) is expected to play Sunday against the Bills, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Analysis: Murray was limited in practice each day this week because of the injury, but he's expected to continue playing through it after doing so last week as well. While Murray hasn't had a ton of success this season, the Bills come in allowing 4.1 yards per carry (18th in the NFL), while their 13 rushing touchdowns allowed tie them for the fourth most.

He received his highest total of touches in 2016 as rookie DeAndre Washington was inactive for the first time, leaving just Murray and Jalen Richard as the active tailbacks. At this point fantasy owners should be concerned with his lack of involvement in the Raiders' offense, as rookie DeAndre Washington led the team in rushing with 30 yards on five carries. Murray ran for 31 yards on 11 carries and caught four of six targets for 25 yards in Sunday's 23-17 loss at Kansas City.
Analysis: Outside of a nine-yard run at one point, Murray was completely shut down, and his receiving numbers look better because he caught a couple of passes late in the game with the Raiders in comeback mode. Despite not ripping off as many long runs as some experts predicted (just two runs of 40+ yards), Murray had a successful first year as Oakland's starting tailback. In fact, Murray finished in the top 10 in rushing, with 1,066 yards. The current roster doesn't have anyone that could seriously…read more

Murray rushed for 79 yards and a score on 19 carries and secured all five of his targets for 38 yards in Thursday's 23-20 overtime win against the Chargers.
Analysis: Murray was the most productive member of the Raiders offense Thursday, and he eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards on the season in the process. He went untouched, thanks to a great lead block from Jamize Olawale, for his 22-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. The Raiders close out the season next week on the road against a Chiefs defense that surrendered 97 total yards and a score to Murray in Week 12.

Murray gained 78 yards on 21 carries and secured one of two targets for two yards in Sunday's 30-20 loss to the Packers.
Analysis: The second-year tailback had a solid afternoon on a wet track at the O.co Coliseum, although his carries were reduced late in the game with the Raiders in catch-up mode. Murray's 3.7 yards per carry was actually his second-best figure in that category over the last five weeks, a span that had seen him average less than two yards per tote in one contest and under three yards in two others. Now at 956 rushing yards on the season, Murray should easily surpass the 1,000-yard mark against a generous…read more

Murray ran for just 27 yards on 16 carries in Sunday's 15-12 upset win at Denver. He failed to haul in his lone target.
Analysis: Murray struggled for the second time this year against Denver, as he rushed for just 39 yards on 13 carries back in Week 5. The entire Raiders' offense struggled Sunday, however, until the second half when Derek Carr tossed a couple of scores. Murray hasn't rushed for over 100 yards since Week 8, but on the bright side, he's been receiving plenty of work, with 58 carries over the last three games. In Week 15, Murray will face the Packers, who entered Sunday's game as the league's 20th ranked…read more

Murray ran 20 times for 88 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 34-20 loss to the Chiefs. He also caught four of six targets for 11 yards.
Analysis: Murray busted off a 35-yard run at one point, and might have had a slightly bigger game, if not for a mini implosion from Derek Carr, who threw three interceptions in the fourth quarter. He ran for over 200 yards combined in Weeks 8-9 against two strong rush defenses (Jets and Steelers), but had struggled in each of his last three games, averaging well under 3.0 YPC. After getting back on track as a runner Sunday, he also rebounded as a pass catcher, as he had recorded just 10 receptions over…read more

Murray rushed 22 times for 59 yards and caught 1-of-3 targets for 23 yards in Sunday's win over the Titans.
Analysis: Murray was stifled by Tennessee's impressive run defense, averaging just 2.7 yards per carry. The formerly explosive running back has shown some signs of slowing down in recent weeks, as he hasn't managed to top 4.0 yards per carry in any of the last three weeks after averaging 4.8 over the season's first eight games. Murray has topped two receptions just once in the past six games, so don't expect him to contribute much unless he gets his ground game back on track.

Murray carried the ball 13 times for 28 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's loss to Detroit.
Analysis: Murray managed to snap his three-game scoreless streak on Sunday, but did so while recording his lowest rushing total of the season and his first game without a catch. Murray may be frustrating some fantasy owners with just two scores since Week 3, but he's also managed to be impressively consistent, tallying at least 60 total yards in eight of 10 games this season. In a league dominated by running-back commitees, Murray deserves continued starts if for no other reason than he represents 69…read more

Murray (concussion) had 12 carries for 48 yards and caught all five of his targets for 29 yards in Sunday's 30-14 loss to Minnesota.
Analysis: Murray was somewhat iffy heading into the game, but easily led the Raiders' backfield in touches with 17. He probably would have gotten more work, but Oakland trailed for the entire game. Things should get easier for him next week against a suspect Lions' defense.

Murray (concussion) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Vikings.
Analysis: Murray, who is bouncing backs back from a concussion that he suffered last weekend, will give it a go Sunday against a Minnesota defense that has allowed an average of 111.6 yards per game on the ground to date. Through eight games, Murray has carried 132 times for 630 yards (good for a 4.8 yards per carry) and three TDs, to go along with 21 catches for 104 yards.

Murray (concussion) practiced without limitations Friday and has been cleared to start Sunday's game against the Vikings, reports Jerry McDonald of Bay Area News Group.
Analysis: Officially, Murray is listed as probable for the contest, but barring any unexpected setbacks, he should be fine for Sunday's 4:05 ET kickoff.

Murray (concussion) was a limited participant at Thursday's practice.
Analysis: Although Murray said that he is already symptom-free, his limited participation at Thursday's practice suggests he still needs to clear at least one hurdle in the NFL's concussion protocol. If he's ultimately unable to play against the Vikings, it's unclear how the Raiders would divide work between Taiwan Jones, Roy Helu and fullbacks Marcel Reece and Jamize Olawale.

Murray suggested Thursday that he is symptom-free after suffering a concussion this past Sunday against the Steelers, Scott Bair of CSN California reports.
Analysis: That said, it's unclear how much the running back will be limited at practice Thursday, with Murray's status for Sunday's game against the Vikings still far from solidified at this stage.

Murray (concussion) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Scott Bair of CSN California reports.
Analysis: It's unclear exactly where Murray is in the NFL's concussion protocol at this stage, so his status will be worth tracking closely in advance of Sunday's game against the Vikings. Taiwan Jones, who is listed as the Raiders' No. 2 RB, had as many fumbles (two) as carries in Week 9, so if Murray is out or limited this weekend, the team could lean more heavily on the likes of fullbacks Marcel Reece and Jamize Olawale, with Roy Helu an option to rejoin the team's backfield mix Sunday after being…read more

Latavius Murray: Going through concussion protocol
Murray is going through the concussion protocol, Scott Bair of CSN California reports.
Analysis: Murray was removed from the second half of Sunday's eventual loss at Pittsburgh in order to undergo evaluation for a potential head injury. With the concussion protocol set to dominate his week, his progress, or lack thereof, will be of particular interest to his owners. If he's unable to go Sunday against the Vikings, Taiwan Jones and Roy Helu are next in line for touches out of the Raiders' backfield.

Murray was evaluated for a concussion during Sunday's game against the Steelers.
Analysis: With Murray forced out of Sunday's contest after absorbing a hard hit and Roy Helu inactive for the contest, the Raiders are left with Taiwan Jones and Marcel Reece to handle the team's Week 9 backfield duties.

Murray carried the ball 20 times for 113 yards and added one catch for six yards in Sunday's win over the Jets.
Analysis: Although he failed to score a touchdown, it was still a very productive day for the workhorse as he received 20 of the Raiders' 25 carries. Sunday marked the second time this year that Murray rushed for over 100 yards, and he's caught a pass out of the backfield in every game this season. Owners would love to see the touchdown totals go up, as he sits on just three all year, and it's highly likely that they will as long as the Raiders' keep feeding him the ball. Murray should have a decent…read more
