Quiet end to regular season
Doyle caught all three of his targets for 17 yards during Sunday's 28-14 win over the Jaguars.
Analysis: Doyle finished the regular season with 23 catches (33 targets) for 251 yards and three touchdowns across 14 appearances. The receptions, yardage and touchdowns were his fewest since 2015, excluding the 2018 campaign, when he suited up just six times due to injuries. The Colts have a potential out from the 30-year-old's contract this offseason, as cutting him would only result in a $1.5 million dead-cap hit. Doyle would carry a $5.85 million cap hit if he does return for Indianapolis in 2021,…read more

Cleared for Week 17
Doyle (quadriceps) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Jaguars.
Analysis: Doyle didn't practice Thursday, but he's been cleared for Week 17 action after a full session Friday. He'll likely continue to split tight-end reps with Trey Burton and Mo Alie-Cox.

Added to injury report
Doyle (quad) missed practice Thursday.
Analysis: Doyle was added to the Colts' Week 17 injury report Thursday, so his status will need to be monitored in advance of Sunday's game against the Jaguars. If he's out or limited this weekend, added tight end snaps and targets would be available for Trey Burton and Mo Alie-Cox.

Registers 50 yards
Doyle caught four of six targets for 50 yards in Sunday's 28-24 loss to the Steelers.
Analysis: Doyle led the Colts' tight end group with 38 of 69 snaps on offense. He registered season highs in receiving yards and receptions. However, those achievements clearly point to the down year that Doyle has endured, as he's posted a 20-234-3 line through 13 games.

Cleared to play
Doyle (quad) doesn't carry an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Steelers after being listed as a full practice participant Friday.
Analysis: Doyle will be out there Sunday, but he hasn't offered much fantasy value this season while competing for tight end targets with Mo Alie-Cox and Trey Burton. Overall, he's logged a 16/184/3 stat line through 12 contests, and in his last outing Doyle caught both targets for 14 yards in the Colts' Week 15 win over the Texans.

Misses practice with quad issue
Doyle was added to the Colts' Week 16 report Thursday after a quadriceps injury prevented him from practicing.
Analysis: Doyle has previously appeared on reports this season with a concussion along with neck, ankle and knee injuries, but the quad issue is a new concern for the tight end. Given that he wasn't listed on Wednesday's report at all, Doyle likely picked up the injury in practice rather than during last week's win over the Texans. Doyle will now likely need to get back on the practice field in some capacity Friday to have a good chance at playing Sunday against the Steelers.

Targeted twice in win
Doyle caught both targets for 14 yards in Sunday's 27-20 win over the Texans.
Analysis: Doyle led his position group with 41 snaps on offense (76 percent), while Mo Alie-Cox and Trey Burton finished with 25 and 19 snaps, respectively. Philip Rivers directed five total targets at the position Sunday, and with a fairly even split between the three tight ends, nobody produced meaningful numbers.

Finishes as second-leading receiver
Doyle corralled all three of his targets for 44 yards during Sunday's 44-27 win over the Raiders.
Analysis: Michael Pittman and Nyheim Hines both exceeded Doyle's target share in Week 14, but with an efficient day, the tight end finished second on the team in receiving output. Sunday's showing marked just the second time all season Doyle has exceeded 30 receiving yards, though he only did so on four occasions during 2019 while earning the second Pro-Bowl nod of his career. Doyle's targets are way down in 2020, as Trey Burton and Mo Alie-Cox continue to have passing-down roles. Doyle attracted 42…read more

Musters up 12 yards
Doyle caught his lone target for 12 yards in Sunday's 26-20 win over the Texans.
Analysis: Doyle's usage is slipping. For a consecutive game, he finished second among Colts' tight ends in snaps with 38 snaps (55 percent), while Mo Alie-Cox logged 44 snaps (64 percent) and caught three passes for 23 yards. The 30-year-old has an 11-126-3 line through 10 games.

Misses lone target
Doyle failed to catch his only target during Sunday's 41-26 loss to the Titans.
Analysis: The 30-year-old received the start but saw less playing time than either Mo Alie-Cox or Trey Burton, the latter of whom caught three passes for 43 yards and a touchdown. Doyle has only one reception on five targets for six yards over three games since catching his last touchdown in Week 8. The playing time split between the three tight ends makes all of them difficult to trust in fantasy lineups, but Doyle appears to be the one Philip Rivers is looking for least in the passing game.

Scores TD against Packers
Doyle had a six-yard touchdown reception on his only target in Sunday's win over Green Bay.
Analysis: Doyle returned after missing a game due to a concussion and played the most among Indy's tight ends. Trey Burton played on 24 of the offense's 84 snaps while Doyle played on 45 snaps and Mo Alie-Cox played on 43 snaps. However, Doyle went out for a pass just 11 times, which was the least of the trio. Doyle appears to be the least likely to produce in the passing game as a result, but it's hard to depend on any tight end's production with all three active in the passing game.

Cleared for Week 11
Doyle (concussion) will play in Sunday's game against the Packers.
Analysis: Doyle officially cleared the league's five-step concussion protocol Saturday, and he won't carry an injury tag into Sunday's game. The veteran tight end has been a touchdown-dependant fantasy option, as he hasn't surpassed three receptions or 50 yards in a game this season.

Deemed questionable for Week 11
Doyle (concussion) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Packers.
Analysis: Doyle wrapped up the week with full practices Thursday and Friday, but he'll take an injury designation into Sunday since he has yet to officially clear the NFL's five-step concussion protocol. Assuming Doyle gets the green light from an independent neurologist before Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff, he'll be part of a three-man timeshare at tight end with Trey Burton and Mo Alie-Cox.

Returns to full practice
Doyle (concussion) practiced fully Thursday.
Analysis: Doyle has been sidelined since suffering the concussion back on Nov. 8, but his full activity in Thursday's practice represents a positive step forward in his recovery. That said, the tight end still remains in the NFL's concussion protocol, according to Stephen Holder of The Athletic. Friday's final injury report will reveal whether Doyle and position mate Mo Alie-Cox (knee) approach Sunday's game against the Packers with an injury designation.

Still in concussion protocol
Doyle remains in the NFL's concussion protocol and won't practice Wednesday, Mike Wells of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Doyle suffered his concussion back on Nov. 8, so it's concerning that he has yet to gain clearance as the Colts prepare for Sunday's game against the Packers. If Doyle remains out this week, Trey Burton and Mo Alie-Cox would once again be in line to handle tight-end duties Week 11.

Remains in concussion protocol
Coach Frank Reich said Monday that Doyle is still in the concussion protocol, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan Indianapolis reports.
Analysis: Doyle sat out last Thursday's win over the Titans while in the five-step concussion protocol, and he'll need to achieve full medical clearance prior to retaking the field. If he's unable to get the green light in time for Sunday's game against the Packers, Trey Burton and Mo Alie-Cox would once again be in line to split Indianapolis' top tight end reps.

Ruled out this week
Doyle (concussion) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Titans.

Deemed non-participant Tuesday
Doyle (concussIon) was listed as a non-participant on Tuesday's estimated practice report.
Analysis: Doyle has yet to make much notable progress through the NFL's concussion protocol after sustaining a head injury in Sunday's loss to the Ravens. With the Colts set to play in Tennessee on Thursday night this week, Doyle likely won't have enough time to clear the protocol. Assuming Doyle ends up sitting out the Week 10 contest, the Colts would roll with Trey Burton and Mo Alie-Cox as their primary options at tight end.

Expected to miss Thursday's game
Coach Frank Reich said Monday that Doyle (concussion) is "very unlikely" to suit up against the Titans on Thursday, Andrew Walker of the Colts' official site reports.
Analysis: Doyle suffered a concussion during Sunday's 24-17 win over the Bears, so he'd need to make extremely quick progress through the league's five-step protocol for any chance of suiting up Thursday. If he can't go Week 10, Trey Burton and Mo Alie-Cox figure to see increased opportunities as Indianapolis' clear top remaining options at tight end.

Suffers concussion Sunday
Doyle won't return to Sunday's game against the Ravens after being diagnosed with a concussion, Andrew Walker of the Colts' official site reports.
Analysis: Doyle was targeted with less than a minute left in the first half, but he couldn't reel it in while taking a hard hit from Ravens' safety Chuck Clark. The 30-year-old tight end has officially been ruled out. Trey Burton and Mo Alie-Cox figure to see increased usage for the rest of the day. Doyle will need to make a quick recovery through the league's five-step concussion protocol in order to be available for Thursday's matchup against the Titans.

Touchdowns in two straight
Doyle caught two of three targets for 18 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 41-21 win over the Lions.
Analysis: Doyle has caught touchdowns in back-to-back games, and he was on the field for 58 percent of offensive snaps. He has played at least 54 percent of offensive snaps in all five of his appearances this season, seeing the field consistently despite competition for playing time from both Trey Burton and Mo Alie-Cox at the tight end position.

Catches TD in comeback win
Doyle had three receptions for 29 yards on three targets, including a 14-yard touchdown, in Sunday's win over the Bengals.
Analysis: Doyle had disappeared from the passing game with just four receptions in his first four games, so his touchdown was a mild surprise. While Doyle finally showed some signs of being a part of the offense, he also got targets because Mo Alie-Cox was out with a knee injury and the Colts were forced to pass after falling behind big early. Analysis: Doyle started at tight end and went out for passes on 18 of the offense's 37 pass plays, but he again wasn't a factor in the offense. He has just one reception and four targets in his last three games. Trey Burton had six targets and looks to have moved ahead of Doyle in prominence in the passing game. Just one reception Sunday
Doyle had one reception for 12 yards on his only target in Sunday's win over Chicago.
Analysis: With injuries at wide receiver (Parris Campbell and Michael Pittman on IR), the Colts utilized three tight ends in the passing game against the Bears. Mo Alie-Cox was a starter in a two-TE set with Doyle. Alie-Cox played 33 of the offense's 72 snaps with Doyle playing 45 snaps and Trey Burton playing 36 snaps. Catchless in return
Doyle wasn't targeted over 32 offensive snaps in Sunday's 36-7 win over the Jets.
Analysis: Mo Alie-Cox was phenomenal when Doyle sat out of Week 2's game versus the Vikings, recording five receptions for 111 yards. In Doyle's return to the lineup Week 3, Alie-Cox out-snapped Doyle, 36-32, and was more effective as a pass catcher with a 3-50-1 line. Back in action Sunday
Doyle (ankle/knee) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Jets.
Analysis: Doyle is back after a one-game absence and should return to a key role in the Colts' passing game Sunday, while Mo Alie-Cox is also on hand to work in a complementary role or handle extra work if Doyle is limited at all in his return, or suffers an in-game setback.

Questionable to face Jets
Doyle (ankle/knee) is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Jets, Andrew Walker of the Colts' official site reports.
Analysis: Doyle returned to practice as a full participant Friday, which bodes well for his chances of suiting up versus New York, but a final word on his availability may not come until Indianapolis' inactive list is revealed around 11:30 a.m. ET on Sunday. Doyle stands to start at tight end if he manages to retake the field, but Mo Alie-Cox did break out as a legitimate weapon last week with over 100 yards, a performance which could earn him more work in the passing game.

Doyle (knee) returned to a limited practice Thursday, Andrew Walker of the Colts' official site reports.
Analysis: Doyle missed all three of Indy's practices last week with knee and ankle issues before being ruled out for Week 2's win over the Vikings. Now listed with just a knee injury, his return to practice, albeit in a limited capacity, offers hope that Doyle can suit up Sunday against the Jets. If, however, he's limited or out this weekend, Mo Alie-Cox -- who caught five passes for 111 yards against Minnesota -- would once again see added snaps Week 3.

Analysis: Walker adds that coach Frank Reich indicated that at first it looked like Doyle might be dealing with a multi-game injury, but the tight end has progressed better than expected and could be back as soon as Week 3. Doyle (ankle/knee) wasn't present for the start of Friday's practice, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan Indianapolis reports.

Doyle (ankle/knee) isn't participating in Thursday's practice, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan Indianapolis reports.
Analysis: Doyle will go down as a non-participant on the Colts' practice report for the second day in a row, suggesting his absence from Wednesday's session wasn't merely maintenance-related. The tight end will probably need to turn in at least a limited practice Friday to have realistic hope of playing in Sunday's game against the Vikings. Doyle didn't practice Wednesday due to ankle and knee injuries.
Analysis: Doyle, who dealt with a neck issue during training camp, evidently came out of the Colts' Week 1 loss to the Jaguars feeling banged up. Just three receptions
Doyle had three receptions for 49 yards on four targets in Sunday's 27-20 loss at Jacksonville.
Analysis: Doyle's fantasy stats could have been much better, but quarterback Philip Rivers just barely overthrew Doyle on a touchdown target. Still, Doyle wasn't a main option for Rivers, who has focused on tight ends in the past, as he was fifth on the team in targets. Doyle did play on 54 of the offense's 74 snaps and stayed in to block on just two passing plays, which bodes well for increased usage in the passing game going forward.

Opportunity knocks
Doyle (neck) could be in line for increased early-season targets with Trey Burton (calf) expected to miss at least a few games, Mike Chappell of Fox 59 News Indianapolis reports.
Analysis: Doyle handled 74.1 percent of Indianapolis' offensive snaps last season while sharing snaps with Eric Ebron, and he now looks set to kick off the 2020 campaign as the team's unquestioned No. 1 tight end. Mo Alie-Cox could also see increased reps while Burton remains sidelined, but he's yet to log 10 catches in a single season and shouldn't be a notable threat to Doyle's targets. Analysis: A few missed practices shouldn't really matter for the veteran tight end, who is locked in as a starter. New Colts quarterback Philip Rivers has a track record of heavily targeting his tight ends, but it isn't entirely clear that will carry over to Indianapolis, where there's a three-headed monster in the backfield and a pair of promising young wide receivers behind T.Y. He won't necessarily see a huge jump in targets, but he should be a regular presence on the field, and a QB switch from Jacoby Brissett to Philip Rivers could help the 30-year-old bump up his catch rate from last year's career-low 59.7 percent. Over his three games after landing the extension, Doyle contributed just five receptions for 44 yards across 13 targets. Held to 17 yards in win
Doyle caught two of four passes for 17 yards during Sunday's 38-6 win over the Panthers.
Analysis: Doyle's 17 yards were a season low. The veteran tight end has had a ho-hum season, managing just four games with at least 30 receiving yards. The Colts' pass offense has been on the decline over the past month and a half, having been held under 200 yards in four of the last six games. Quiet in Tampa
Doyle caught two of six targets for 27 yards in Sunday's 38-35 loss to Tampa Bay.
Analysis: Fresh off signing a three-year extension, Doyle delivered a dud against a Buccaneers defense that has been quite generous to tight ends this season. Analysis: The team didn't officially announce the financial terms of Doyle's new deal, but Ian Rapoport of NFL Network relays that the tight end is due more than $21 million in new money, with undisclosed incentives potentially pushing the value of the contract up to $24 million. With Doyle locked up through the 2022 season, the Colts will most likely move on from fellow tight end Eric Ebron (ankle), who is set to become a free agent this spring. Doyle has bounced back from an injury-shortened 2018…read more

Hauls in touchdown
Doyle caught six of his 11 targets for 73 yards and a touchdown in the team's Week 13 loss to the Titans.
Analysis: Doyle benefitted from the lack of receiving options in the Colts' passing attack, leading the team in targets. He didn't work down the field much -- he did score on a 21-yard touchdown pass deep down the left sideline on a misdirection pass -- but proved to be a reliable target for Jacoby Brissett throughout the contest. He'll have a positive matchup against the Buccaneers in Week 14, though it remains to be seen whether T.Y. Hilton (calf), Parris Campbell (hand) or Chester Rogers (knee) will…read more

Trio of receptions in Week 12 loss
Doyle hauled in three of four targets for 28 yards in the Colts' 20-17 loss to the Texans on Thursday.
Analysis: Doyle tied with multiple teammates for second in receptions on the night, although it led to his seventh sub-30-yard tally of the season. The veteran has no fewer than three grabs in eight of his last nine contests, but his upside is generally capped unless he finds the end zone, which he's done on three occasions overall this season. Doyle will look for better production against the Titans in a Week 13 divisional matchup a week from Sunday.

No targets Sunday
Doyle didn't have a reception or target in Sunday's win over Jacksonville.
Analysis: Doyle was bothered by a shoulder issue during practice last week but still played on 42 of the offense's 66 snaps. He went out for a pass on 16 snaps, so his lack of receptions wasn't due to any health issues. He should be be back in the mix for receptions Thursday at Houston.

Cleared to play this week
Doyle (shoulder) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Jaguars after practicing fully Friday.
Analysis: With both T.Y. Hilton (calf) and Parris Campbell (hand) still out and Devin Funchess (collarbone) not ready to come off injured reserve, Doyle and fellow tight end Eric Ebron should log a solid share of snaps/targets in Week 11. In last week's loss to the Dolphins, Ebron hauled in five of his 12 targets for 56 yards, while Doyle caught three of his four targets for 44 yards and a score. This Sunday, the duo will be catching passes from Jacoby Brissett, who's back from a one-game absence caused…read more

Returns to limited practice
Doyle (shoulder) was listed as a limited practice participant Thursday.
Analysis: Doyle sat out Wednesday's practice, so his return to a limited session Thursday has him trending toward being available for Sunday's game against the Jaguars. We'll revisit the tight end's status Friday to see if he is listed as questionable for the contest or heads into the weekend minus an injury designation.

Back at practice
Doyle (shoulder) returned to practice Thursday, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan Indianapolis reports.
Analysis: We'll circle back on Doyle's status later Thursday to see if he is listed as a limited or full participant, but his return to the field after sitting out Wednesday's session bodes well for the tight end's availability for Sunday's game against the Jaguars.

Misses practice Wednesday
Doyle didn't practice Wednesday due to a shoulder injury.
Analysis: Meanwhile, Mo Alie-Cox (hip) also missed the session, leaving Eric Ebron as the only fully healthy tight end on the Colts' 53-man roster. Doyle's status will be revisited again Thursday, by which time it should become more clear whether his absence Wednesday was maintenance-related or the result of an issue that could threaten his availability for Sunday's game against the Jaguars.

Another score
Doyle converted three of his four targets into receptions for 44 yards and a touchdown in the team's Week 10 loss to the Dolphins.
Analysis: Doyle served as one of Brian Hoyer's primary dump-off options, catching all of his passes within close proximity to the line of scrimmage. However, he excelled after the catch to turn in long receptions of 23 and 20 yards. His most productive moment came early in the fourth quarter when he hauled in a one-yard touchdown to put the Colts ahead 12-10. While he won't be targeted deep down the field, Doyle has secured a role in the Colts' offense and now has at least four targets in each of his…read more

Salvages performance with touchdown
Doyle tallied three receptions on four targets for 22 yards and a touchdown in Week 9 against the Steelers.
Analysis: Heading into Week 9, there was optimism that Doyle would see an increased role in the Colts' offense with T.Y. Hilton (calf) sidelined. However, that didn't come to fruition, as he received only four targets -- fewer than his marks in both Week 7 and 8. His performance was salvaged only by an 11-yard touchdown early in the second quarter, and he has now surpassed five targets in a game only once this season. Even in the absence of Hilton, that doesn't appear likely to change.

Role on offense could grow
Doyle could see an enhanced role in the Colts' passing game Sunday against the Steelers with T.Y. Hilton (calf) ruled out for the contest and at risk of missing multiple weeks, Mike Wells of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Doyle paced the Colts with 61 receiving yards in the Week 8 win over Denver, but his fantasy upside has generally been capped throughout the season while he's split work at tight end with Eric Ebron. There could be room for both tight ends to see the field more frequently together beginning in Week 9, as the athletic Ebron's ability to slot out wide could help the Colts compensate for a receiver room otherwise lacking in high-impact talent beyond Hilton. Along with the likes of Ebron and Doyle,…read more
