Joins Cardinals' 53-man roster
The Cardinals signed Kennard to their active roster Tuesday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Kennard's promotion isn't much of a surprise considering he was elevated to Arizona's active roster prior to both of the team's first two contests. Through Week 2, the 31-year-old linebacker has registered two total tackles, with one in each game thus far. Expect Kennard to continue operating as a rotational piece for the Cardinals defense when the team hosts the Rams on Sunday.

Back with Arizona
The Cardinals signed Kennard to their practice squad Thursday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Kennard was surprisingly released ahead of Tuesday's 53-man roster deadline, but the veteran has returned to the organization on a practice-squad deal. The 31-year-old linebacker appeared in 28 games over the last two seasons in Arizona, totaling 43 tackles, three sacks and two pass defenses while playing exclusively on defense.

Cut loose by Arizona
Kennard was released by the Cardinals on Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Kennard's release comes as somewhat of a surprise given his familiarity with Arizona's defense and overall playing experience. The ninth-year linebacker recorded 43 tackles, three sacks and two passes defended over 28 regular-season games during the past two seasons with the Cardinals. With Kennard gone, rookie outside linebackers Myjai Sanders and Cameron Thomas should step into larger roles in the team's defense.

Returns from reserve/COVID-19 list
Kennard was activated from the Cardinals' reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Kennard was forced to miss the team's win over the Cowboys in Week 17 after being placed on the COVID list Dec. 29. The linebacker will return to his depth role ahead of the team's final regular season game Sunday against the Seahawks.

Enters COVID protocol
Kennard (undisclosed) was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Analysis: Kennard will be fighting an uphill battle to gain clearance in time to suit up Sunday against the Cowboys for a pivotal game with playoff positioning on the line. The 30-year-old linebacker has been a solid depth piece for the Cardinals this season, totaling 20 tackles in 14 games.

Active in Week 7
Kennard (shoulder) is active for Sunday's game against the Texans.
Analysis: Kennard closed the week with two limited practices and was questionable heading into the game. He'll be ready to suit up and serve in his typical role as a rotational linebacker.

Officially questionable for Week 7
Kennard (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Sunday's matchup with the Texans.
Analysis: Kennard didn't practice Wednesday, but he was a limited participant Thursday and Friday. With Chandler Jones (COVID-19 protocols) inactive, the 30-year-old linebacker played a season-high 31 snaps during Week 6. With both linebackers' status up in the air, Dennis Gardeck and Victor Dimukeje could see increased playing time Sunday.

Will play in Week 3
Kennard (hamstring) is active for Sunday's contest against the Jaguars, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official website reports.
Analysis: Kennard missed Week 2 with a hamstring injury, but he will suit up against the Jaguars in Week 3. He logged only 13 defensive snaps and was held without a tackle during Week 1, so it's unclear how much of an impact his return will have on Arizona's defense.

Unavailable Sunday
Kennard (hamstring) will miss Sunday's Week 2 battle against the Vikings, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Analysis: Kennard didn't have much of an impact in the season-opening blowout of the Titans. Since that game, the 30-year-old linebacker has injured his hamstring and will miss Week 2. With Kennard out, expect Markus Golden to see an increased role against the Vikings.

Comes off COVID-19 list
The Cardinals activated Kennard from the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, Kyle Odegard of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Kennard sat out Sunday's loss to the Dolphins after testing positive for COVID-19, but he's now been fully cleared to return to team facilities. The starting linebacker also resumed practicing Wednesday, and he can be considered on track to take the field against Buffalo in Week 10.

Tracking to return Week 10
Coach Kliff Kingsbury said Monday that he's "hopeful" that Kennard will be activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list and return to practice this week, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Analysis: Kennard tested positive for the virus at least seven days ago, and he's only required to miss three more days as long as he passes the COVID-19 protocols. Therefore, he may return to practice Wednesday or Thursday, and he's expected to be an option for Sunday's matchup against the Bills.

Ruled out against Dolphins
Kennard (illness) won't play Sunday against Miami, Kyle Odegard of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Analysis: Kennard is on the reserve/COVID-19 list, and he won't be eligible to come off until he's asymptomatic and 10 days have passed since his last positive test. Those requirements could be fulfilled in time for Kennard to face Buffalo in Week 10, and coach Kliff Kingsbury added that there have been no new positive tests on the team.

Tests positive for coronavirus
Kennard announced via his personal Twitter account Monday he tested positive for COVID-19.
Analysis: The Cardinals shut down their facility over the weekend due to some positive tests, and Kennard was one of the infected individuals. The 29-year-old will be unavailable until he clears the league's COVID-19 protocols, so he'll be sidelined until further notice.

Deemed questionable for Monday
Kennard (calf) is questionable for Monday's game versus the Cowboys, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Analysis: Kennard has missed the last two games, but after logging three straight limited practice sessions, he has a shot to return to the lineup Monday. If he's able to go, the 29-year-old is expected to start at outside linebacker, where he's produced seven tackles and two sacks through the first two games. His pass-rushing ability will be even more important with Chandler Jones (biceps) out for the year.

Unavailable Week 5
Kennard (calf) was ruled out for Sunday's game against the Jets, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Analysis: The 29-year-old will be sidelined for the second consecutive game due to the calf injury. Haason Reddick and Kylie Fitts should see increased snaps in Kennard's continued absence.

Unavailable against Panthers
Kennard (calf) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Panthers.
Analysis: Kennard recorded a sack in two straight games before suffering a calf injury that kept him out of practice all week. It's unclear when he'll be ready to return to the lineup, but his next chance will be Week 5 against the Jets. For the time being, Haason Reddick will likely start at outside linebacker.

Considered questionable
The Cardinals have handed Kennard (calf) a questionable designation ahead of Sunday's Week 4 matchup against the Panthers, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Analysis: Kennard's questionable status is seemingly optimistic as he was unable to practice all week. Still, the team will wait to see how he is feeling closer to kickoff before making a final decision. Look for some combination of Haason Reddick and Kylie Fitts to see increased reps at outside linebacker if Kennard is ultimately unable to go.

Not practicing Thursday
Kennard (calf) did not practice Thursday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Analysis: Kennard has now missed back-to-back practices, and he'll only have one more chance to increase his reps ahead of Sunday's game in Carolina. Haason Reddick would stand to see an uptick in defensive snaps if Kennard is forced to miss any time.

Finds new home quickly
Kennard (hamstring) agreed Wednesday with Arizona on a three-year contract, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Kennard was cut by the Lions on Tuesday and reached an agreement with the Cardinals one day later. The 28-year-old isn't dominant at any specific facet of playing defense but he's shown the versatility to line up as an edge rusher or an off-ball linebacker, and he's capable of defending the run, pressuring quarterbacks or dropping into coverage. Kennard could play inside linebacker, outside linebacker or both in a 3-4 scheme under Cardinals defensive coordinator Vance Joseph. A hamstring injury…read more

Cut by Detroit
The Lions released Kennard (hamstring) on Tuesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Kennard is coming off back-to-back seven-sack seasons in Detroit, where he displayed competence as a pass rusher, run defender and cover man. However, he wasn't necessarily great at any of those tasks, and the Lions are now signing a similarly versatile (and flashier) player in Jamie Collins. It shouldn't take Kennard too long to find a new home, assuming his hamstring injury from Week 17 isn't serious.

Won't return Week 17
Kennard (hamstring) will not return to Sunday's contest against the Packers.
Analysis: Kennard concludes the 2019 season with 58 tackles (45 solo) and seven sacks across 16 contests. He also forced recovered two fumbles, one of which was forced and one of which he returned for a score.

Exits with hamstring injury
Kennard exited Sunday's game against the Packers with a hamstring injury.
Analysis: Kennard shook off a shoulder injury to suit up for Sunday's game, but it appears his day could be over. The 28-year-old outside linebacker didn't record a tackle before departing. If he's unable to return, Kennard will finish the year with 58 tackles and seven sacks, with the latter tying his career high.

Ready for Sunday
Kennard (shoulder) is officially active for Sunday's game versus Green Bay.
Analysis: Kennard received the questionable tag despite putting in a full practice session Friday, so it's no surprise he's good to go Week 17. The 28-year-old should work in his typical starting role against the Packers.

Status for Week 17 uncertain
Kennard (shoulder) is questionable for Sunday's divisional matchup versus the Packers, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.
Analysis: After logging two limited practice sessions, Kennard was a full participant Friday, suggesting he's likely to suit up Week 17. If he's forced to miss the final game of the regular season, however, look for Anthony Pittman to draw the start at one of the outside linebacker positions.

Limited in practice Thursday
Kennard (shoulder) put in a limited practice Thursday.
Analysis: Kennard entered Week 16 wearing the questionable tag with a hamstring issue but emerged with a shoulder injury. Nevertheless, he's logged two limited practices this week. If the 28-year-old is forced to miss Sunday's game against the Packers, Jahlani Tavai would stand to see more snaps.

Ready to face Broncos
Kennard (hamstring) is active for Sunday's game against the Broncos.
Analysis: Kennard is having a solid campaign, as his 53 tackles are just eight shy of a career high, and his seven sacks are already tied for a career best. The sixth-year linebacker will continue filling a starting outside linebacker role.

Dons questionable tag
Kennard (hamstring) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Broncos.
Analysis: Kennard wasn't able to practice until Friday and was limited while doing so. Jahlani Tavai and Jalen Reeves-Maybin should continue to get extra playing time.

Misses practice Wednesday
Kennard (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Analysis: Kennard suffered a hamstring injury in the second half of last Sunday's game versus the Buccanneers and did not return. He recorded four tackles (two solo) and a sack in the loss to Tampa Bay. If Kennard continues to be held out of practice, don't expect him to be on the field Sunday when the Lions visit Denver.

Forces fumble in loss
Kennard registered two solo tackles, one sack and a forced fumble in Sunday's 19-16 loss to the Redskins.
Analysis: Kennard extended his sack streak to three games Sunday, but he forced his first fumble of the season as well. The starting outside linebacker has not recorded more than two tackles in a contest since Week 9, however.

Notches fifth sack of the season
Kennard registered two tackles and one sack during Sunday's 35-27 loss to the Cowboys.
Analysis: Detroit is finally starting to see some more payoff from an expensive investment in Kennard, who's now gotten to the quarterback in back-to-back games after failing to do so in his seven previous outings. The USC product now has 37 tackles and five sacks through 10 games.
