Cut loose by Vikings
The Vikings waived Doctson on Tuesday.
Analysis: After spending most of the season on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury, Doctson had a chance to make an impact Week 11, only to play seven offensive snaps and not get targeted in the Vikings' comeback win against the Broncos. As the team comes off its bye, Minnesota has decided to wave goodbye to the 2016 first-round pick.

Active against Denver
Doctson is active for Sunday's game against Denver and will serve as the fourth receiver, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Doctson spent the first two months on injured reserve with a strained hamstring. He'll likely have a small role initially, but he could eventually become the No 3. receiver.

Activated from IR
The Vikings activated Doctson (hamstring) from injured reserve Friday.
Analysis: Doctson will fill the opening on the 53-man roster that was created by the Vikings' recent release of fellow wideout Davion Davis. With Adam Thielen (hamstring) ruled out for Sunday's tilt against the Broncos, Doctson's return comes at an opportune time to bolster Minnesota's receiving corps. He could have a chance to unseat Laquon Treadwell for the No. 3 receiver role right away in Week 11.

Designated for return from IR
Doctson (hamstring) was designated to return from injured reserve Wednesday after joining the Vikings for practice.
Analysis: Doctson won't be eligible to play in Sunday's game against the Chiefs, but he could make it back for Week 10 in Dallas. His odds of earning snaps on offense may depend on Adam Thielen's recovery from a hamstring injury of his own.

Targeting Week 10 return
Doctson (hamstring) said Thursday that he's targeting a return from injured reserve Nov. 10 versus the Cowboys, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: Doctson said he's hoping to retake the field as early as he is eligible. The 2016 first-round pick is nursing a hamstring injury suffered Sept. 11, according to Tomasson. If Doctson is indeed able to get to full health in time to suit up Week 10 against Dallas, he'll likely be restricted to a depth role behind Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs. Laquon Treadwell and Bisi Johnson will compete for the No. 3 receiver gig in the meantime.

Officially lands on IR
The Vikings placed Doctson (leg) on injured reserve Thursday, Arif Hasan of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Doctson is reportedly a candidate to return later in the season, though his placement on IR rules him out until Week 10 at the earliest. Chad Beebe and Bisi Johnson will provide the Vikings with receiver depth behind Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs in the meantime, and the team is a strong candidate to add at least one wideout to the roster in short order.

Headed for IR
Doctson is reportedly headed for IR due to a leg injury, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Per the report, Doctson could be a candidate to return later this season, but for now Chad Beebe and Bisi Johnson will provide the Vikings with wideout depth behind Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs. Additionally, the team figures to bolster the position in short order.

Limited in practice
Doctson (hamstring) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
Analysis: Doctson was inactive Week 1 due to a coach's decision and is now managing a hamstring injury. The 2016 first-round pick is working to climb Minnesota's depth chart and earn a role behind Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs. His chances of suiting up versus the Packers on Sunday are unclear.

Not dressing Week 1
Doctson (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Falcons.
Analysis: Doctson could push out Chad Beebe or Bisi Johnson for the No. 3 or 4 spot on the depth chart as he becomes more acclimated with the Vikings' offense, but the Redskins castoff will be on the sideline for Week 1. Even if Doctson ascends in the Vikings' wideout pecking order, it's unlikely he'll carve out a large enough target share behind Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs to gain mainstream fantasy relevance.

Resurfaces in Minnesota
Doctson is signing with the Vikings, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: The 2016 first-round pick was waived by Washington on Saturday, failing to earn a roster spot on a team that might have the weakest group of wide receivers in the league. Doctson now lands with a Vikings squad that kept just four wide receivers on its initial 53-man roster, with Chad Beebe and Bisi Johnson earning jobs behind the target-hogging duo of Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs. It's as good of a landing spot as Doctson could've hoped for, with potential for snaps early in the season if…read more

Cut by Redskins
Doctson was released by the Redskins on Saturday,Josina Anderson of ESPN reports.
Analysis: The Redskins were hoping a trade suitor might emerge for Doctson, but predictably the 2016 first-round pick garnered no viable offers. Despite rightfully earning the "bust" label after three years of disappointing play, Doctson is likely one of the better wide receivers currently available on the open market and should latch on with a wide receiver-needy team relatively soon. Paul Richardson, Trey Quinn and Terry McLaurin figure to be the starting three receivers for the Redskins come Week 1.

Available for trade
The Redskins hope to trade Doctson before Week 1, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Entering the final year of his rookie contract, Doctson has caught one pass for 16 yards through three preseason games. Coach Jay Gruden declined to say if the wideout will stick around on the 53-man roster, instead noting that Doctson won't play in Thursday's preseason finale against Baltimore, per Craig Hoffman of 106-7 The Fan Washington. No receptions
Doctson was targeted once but not record a catch in the Redskins' second preseason game against the Bengals on Thursday.
Analysis: Doctson was targeted by starting quarterback Case Keenum on third down during the team's second offensive series. He made no other appearance on the stat sheet, though the first-team offense took the field for only three drives. Doctson appears headed for a Week 1 start, but he eventually may face a challenge from Terry McLaurin or another young receiver.

Preparing for 2020 departure
Doctson anticipates being a free agent next offseason, ESPN.com's John Keim reports. "I think I'm hitting free agency next year. I won't be the first, won't be the last," Docton said. "It's nothing to be sad about, be mad about. I'm not trying to prove nothing to nobody. Just trying to get chemistry with the quarterbacks."
Analysis: Washington declined the fifth-year option on its 2016 first-round pick, making an easy decision after Doctson managed just 6.8 yards per target and two touchdowns on 44 catches last season. The 26-year-old wideout presumably will open training camp with a spot in the starting offense, but he may face competition from rookie third-round pick Terry McLaurin or even 2018 UDFA Cam Sims. Fifth-year option declined
The Redskins won't exercise the fifth-year option on Doctson's rookie contract prior to Friday's deadline, JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington reports.
Analysis: The additions of Terry McLaurin (third round) and Kelvin Harmon (sixth) in last week's draft likely made this decision even easier, but it's nonetheless unsurprising that the Redskins decided against keeping Doctson around at an expected $10 million price tag in 2020. While the Achilles injury that limited Doctson to two games his rookie year stunted his professional development, Redskins signal-callers barely averaged a 61.6 quarterback rating when targeting him last season. Gets competition via draft
Doctson could face some competition after Washington selected wide receivers Terry McLaurin (third round) and Kelvin Harmon (sixth round) during the 2019 NFL Draft.
Analysis: Of course, Washington lost Jamison Crowder to the Jets earlier this offseason and didn't sign any veteran free agents. Neither rookie profiles as an instant impact player, but it isn't out of the question for one or both to challenge Doctson, who has managed just 1,100 receiving yards in 33 games since coming off the board 22nd overall in the 2016 NFL Draft. It's safe to assume Washington won't pick up the fifth-year option on his rookie contract. Paul Richardson (shoulder) looks like the only…read more

Pair of grabs in season-ending loss
Doctson brought in two of four targets for 33 yards in the Redskins' 24-0 loss to the Eagles on Sunday.
Analysis: Doctson was dealing with an illness this past week, but he bounced back to co-lead the Redskins in receptions and lead the team in receiving yardage. The 26-year-old did manage to establish new career highs in receptions (44) and receiving yardage (532) in 2018, but he's still largely considered a disappointment after being selected No. 22 overall in 2016. Doctson will be playing on the final year of his rookie contract in 2019, and it remains to be seen if he'll stick around to fulfill it.

Active for season finale
Doctson (illness) is active for Sunday's game against the Eagles, Kareem Copeland of The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Held out of practice Thursday and Friday due to an illness, Doctson has put the ailment behind him as he prepares for his typical workload in the range of 77 to nearly 100 percent of the offensive snaps. The usage hasn't translated to many significant game lines this season, but he is just four yards shy of setting a new career high.

Listed as questionable
Doctson (illness) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Eagles.
Analysis: Doctson still has time to recover before Sunday, but it isn't a great sign that he missed practice both Thursday and Friday, per Kareem Copeland of The Washington Post. With fellow wide receiver Maurice Harris (concussion) already ruled out, Michael Floyd may be looking at a three-down role on the outside. It's unclear whether Jehu Chesson or Darvin Kidsy would join Floyd and Jamison Crowder in three-wide formations if Doctson were to miss the game.

Comes down with illness
Coach Jay Gruden said Doctson missed Thursday's practice due to an illness, Kareem Copeland of The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Doctson joins two other Redskins wideouts that were listed on Wednesday's injury report: Jamison Crowder (who was limited by a wrist issue) and Maurice Harris (who didn't practice due to a concussion). With the top trio all question marks at the moment, the remaining healthy options at the position in Washington are Michael Floyd, Jehu Chesson and Darvin Kidsey.

Posts 30 yards in loss
Doctson had three catches (six targets) for 30 yards in Saturday's 25-16 loss to Tennessee.
Analysis: Josh Johnson failed to connect with Doctson on multiple occasions, most notably a bad throw into coverage in the first half that was picked off. It is tough to trust any receivers outside of Jamison Crowder with an inaccurate mobile quarterback under center. Doctson does possess big-play ability, but he is nothing more than a deep-league dart against the Eagles in Week 17.

Playing Saturday
Doctson (lower back) is active for Saturday's contest against the Titans.
Analysis: There was some concern Doctson might not be available for Saturday's contest after the receiver stumbled onto the injury report Thursday with what was deemed as lower back spasms. Thankfully for a Redskins offense missing Jordan Reed (foot/ankle), Vernon Davis (concussion) and Maurice Harris (concussion), Doctson's injury only appears to be minor, and as a result the third-year receiver will take the field against a Titans defense allowing the 11th-most fantasy points to the wide receiver…read more

Dealing with back spasms
Doctson (lower back) is listed as questionable for Saturday's contest at Tennessee.
Analysis: Doctson's practice reps weren't impacted Tuesday or Wednesday, but the Redskins tacked him onto Thursday's report with what was termed lower back spasms. Elsewhere in the receiving corps, tight end Jordan Reed (foot/ankle) has been ruled out, and Vernon Davis and Maurice Harris are questionable for Saturday with concussions. If Doctson gets the all-clear this weekend, he would be primed to take advantage of the situation alongside Jamison Crowder and Jeremy Sprinkle.

Falls flat in Jacksonville
Doctson was held without a catch on two targets in Sunday's 16-13 win over the Jaguars.
Analysis: Listed as questionable due to a concussion, Doctson got the start but didn't make any noise. He was coming off three straight games with more than 50 yards, but there isn't much reason to expect success with Josh Johnson under center for Week 16 against the Titans and Week 17 against the Eagles.

Active Week 15
Doctson (concussion) is listed as active Sunday in Jacksonville.

Makes trip to Jacksonville
Doctson (concussion), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Jaguars, traveled with the team to Jacksonville, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: The news confirms that Doctson has at least some hope of receiving clearance from the NFL's concussion protocol prior to the 1 p.m. EST kickoff. Doctson only practiced once this week, but since he was a full participant in Friday's session, he shouldn't face any restrictions Sunday if he does in fact receive the green light to play.

Doctson (concussion) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Jacksonville, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.

Doctson (concussion) isn't participating in Thursday's practice, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Doctson's inability to log any reps during the Redskins' first two practices of Week 15 suggests he still has multiple steps to clear in the NFL's five-phase concussion protocol. With Washington's Week 15 matchup against the Jaguars just three days away, Doctson doesn't seem to be trending toward suiting up, though the Redskins may not make an official call on his status until gameday. Doctson (concussion) didn't practice Wednesday, Kareem Copeland of The Washington Post reports. "I think Josh has a chance to be OK [for Sunday's game against the Jaguars]" coach Jay Gruden said. "He's getting checked out by an independent guy and hopefully we'll know more [Thursday.]"
Analysis: Doctson entered the concussion protocol in the wake of a Week 14 demolition at the hands of the Giants. Gruden's comments likely indicate Doctson had an evaluation Wednesday to get through one of the five steps in the protocol, but ultimately the wideout will need to gain clearance from an independent neurologist to play this weekend.

Concussed during 84-yard outing
Doctson is in the concussion protocol, JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington reports.
Analysis: Doctson caught four of five targets for a career-high 84 yards in Sunday's 40-16 loss to the Giants, unexpectedly having one of his better games with Mark Sanchez and Josh Johnson taking snaps. The third-year wideout apparently got concussed somewhere along the way, putting his availability into question for Week 15 at Jacksonville. Maurice Harris and Michael Floyd would be the top candidates to take on vacated snaps, albeit in a nightmare matchup with Johnson under center.

Season-high receiving total in loss
Doctson (hip) caught four of five targets for 84 yards in Sunday's 40-16 loss to the Giants.
Analysis: This was a strong performance from Doctson, especially considering his team trailed 40-0 through three quarters. The 84 receiving yards marked a season high, but Doctson will be hard-pressed to match that total against the Jaguars in Week 15. Josh Johnson will start that game under center for the Redskins after replacing an ineffective Mark Sanchez in this one, but Doctson might have to match up with Jaguars CB Jalen Ramsey.

Doctson (hip) is listed as active Sunday against the Giants, Kareem Copeland of The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Despite being a late addition to the injury report Friday as a limited practice participant, Doctson will brush off his questionable designation, which was more or less expected for a hip issue that wasn't considered serious, per John Keim of ESPN.com. Doctson is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Giants due to a hip injury.
Analysis: Doctson wasn't included on either of the Redskins' first two injury reports of the week, so his hip issue must have cropped up at some point after Thursday's practice. Though any late-week addition to the injury report is always somewhat concerning, John Keim of ESPN.com relays that the Redskins don't believe Doctson is dealing with anything serious. Doctson caught three of five targets for 51 yards in Monday night's 28-13 loss to the Eagles.
Analysis: Doctson's numbers were boosted by a team-long reception of 32 yards, which actually marked his biggest gain of this season. That, however, came before quarterback Colt McCoy suffered a season-ending leg injury. While Doctson caught a 20-yarder from backup Mark Sanchez once he entered the game, the signal-caller's lack of experience in Washington's offense understandably stalled the passing attack. Reaches double-digit targets
Doctson caught six of 10 targets for 66 yards in Thursday's 31-21 loss to the Cowboys.
Analysis: The 2016 first-round pick hit season-high marks for receptions, targets and yards, finally taking advantage of his regular role in the Washington offense. He seems to offer more upside with Colt McCoy under center, as Alex Smith (leg) showed little interest in pushing the ball downfield to wide receivers. Touchdown streak snapped at two
Doctson turned seven targets into three catches for 32 yards in Sunday's 23-21 loss to Houston.
Analysis: Doctson has three or more catches in each of his last eight games, but he's yet to eclipse the 50-yard mark in a game this season. This performance snapped a two-game touchdown streak, but those were Doctson's only two scores of the season, so starting another run against the Cowboys in Week 12 won't be easy.
