Reverts to IR
Ellis (undisclosed) cleared waivers and has reverted to injured reserve, per NFL Communications.
Analysis: Ellis saw just 11 total snaps in the first two weeks after seizing a 53-man roster spot out of camp, but he will now miss the remainder of 2018, barring an injury settlement. If that's the case, the second-year tight end will take aim at rejoining the mix for the 2019 season.

Let go Tuesday
Ellis (undisclosed) was waived/injured by the Chiefs on Tuesday.
Analysis: The second-year tight end made the 53-man roster out of camp and began the year as the team's No. 2 tight end, though he ended his time with the Chiefs without a catch while playing a total of just 11 offensive snaps. Ellis -- who was inactive for Monday's game against the Broncos -- caught three passes for 11 yards in 2017 for the Jaguars.

Makes 53-man roster
Ellis has earned a spot on the Chiefs' 53-man roster, Adam Teicher of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Ellis will serve as the team's No. 2 tight end for the opener against the Chargers with Demetrius Harris suspended for the contest. It seems likely he will remain on the roster even when Harris gets back, but he will likely be a depth option at the position behind Harris and star tight end Travis Kelce.

Ellis was claimed off of waivers by the Chiefs on Tuesday, Pete Sweeney of 610 Sports Radio reports.
Analysis: Ellis -- who was released by the Saints on Monday -- will provide some additional depth at the tight end position that sports only a couple of players guaranteed a spot in Travis Kelce and Demetrius Harris. Ellis signed a future/reserve deal with the Saints prior to last season after appearing in six games for the Jaguars as a rookie in 2016 both on offense and special teams and will attempt to reprise that role with the Chiefs.

Ellis was waived by the Saints on Monday, Nick Underhill of The Baton Rouge Advocate reports.
Analysis: Ellis signed a reserve/future contract with the Saints back in January but won't even make it to OTAs with the team following Monday's move. He'll hope for some interest elsewhere in the NFL, though he's not a lock to make a regular-season roster if he does land another contract. Ellis has seen action in just six career games, all of which came during the 2016 season.
