Called up from practice squad
The Bills promoted Cox from their practice squad ahead of Monday's game against the Chiefs, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Buffalo is expected to make defensive linemen Trent Murphy and Harrison Phillips healthy inactives for the Week 6 contest, so Cox and Justin Zimmer were summoned on short notice to provide extra depth along the defensive front. Cox made six appearances with Carolina in 2019, notching 12 tackles and a half sack.

Cut by Buffalo
The Bills elected to waive Cox on Saturday, Ryan Talbot of New York Upstate reports.
Analysis: Cox inked a deal with the Bills this offseason after accumulating 12 tackles (nine solo) and 0.5 sacks across six games with the Browns last season. The 26-year-old will look to earn a depth roster spot elsewhere -- otherwise he could land back on Buffalo's practice squad for the 2020 campaign.

Familiar name comes to Buffalo
Cox signed a contract with Buffalo on Wednesday, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports.
Analysis: Bills Mafia is quite familiar with Cox's father, as Jr.'s dad played in the AFC East for many seasons and was known to have delivered an unfriendly gesture or two to the Buffalo fans. As for the son, he's floated around the league for a few years since going undrafted out of Florida in 2017, and he'll try to earn a depth role as part of a deep Buffalo line. He'll probably need to shine on special teams to land what might be considered a bit of a long-shot roster spot.

Sustains hand injury
Cox was forced out of Sunday's game against the Bengals with a hand injury, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
Analysis: Since signing with the Browns on Nov. 13, Cox has slowly increased his playing time. The 25-year-old defensive end has logged above a 50-percent snap share in four of the last five games, recording eight tackles and 0.5 sacks in the process. Porter Gustin could see additional snaps in Cox's stead.
