Analysis: Darnold opened the scoring with a two-yard rushing touchdown, keeping the ball on an option play as the Jets unveiled a previously unused wrinkle to their offense. Struggles continue in Miami
Darnold completed 27 of 39 passes for 260 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Sunday's 26-18 loss to the Dolphins. He added one yard on two rushing attempts.
Analysis: Darnold came out of the gate hot and then fizzled out for a second straight week. He capped the opening drive with a 12-yard touchdown pass to Jamison Crowder and appeared to throw a two-yard touchdown to tight end Ryan Griffin late in the first half, but the play was controversially taken off the board on replay, and Darnold was picked off on the ensuing play. Darnold (thumb) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game in Miami, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Darnold was a full practice participant from Wednesday through Friday, paving the way for him to play in an optimal matchup this weekend against the winless Dolphins. Coach Adam Gase mentioned that this thumb injury could bother Darnold for the rest of the year, but a sprain on his non-throwing hand won't keep the quarterback out of action.
