Placed on IR
The Dolphins placed Williams (knee) on injured reserve Tuesday.
Analysis: Williams' move to IR is merely a formality after reports surfaced a day earlier indicating the rookie sustained a torn ACL in Sunday's win over the Jets. The wideout will undergo surgery to address the ligament damage in his knee and may have a difficult time gaining full clearance ahead of training camp next July.

Diagnosed with torn ACL
The season-ending right leg injury Williams sustained in Sunday's win over the Jets was a torn ACL, Cameron Wolfe of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: The Dolphins initially termed Williams' injury as a sprained right knee at the time of his departure, but follow-up scans revealed that he had sustained a complete ligament tear. Williams was a standout performer in the Dolphins' first victory of the season, hauling in five of nine targets for 72 yards and two scores. The undrafted rookie will now face a lengthy rehab and recovery process that could jeopardize his availability for the 2020 season, but he's likely put himself in the Dolphins'…read more

Out for season
Williams will miss the rest of the season due to a leg injury, Safid Deen of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Analysis: Williams suffered what was called a sprained right knee during Sunday's win against the Jets, which will cut his rookie campaign short after eight games. He's flashed so far in his brief career, hauling in 32 of 60 targets for 428 yards and two touchdowns. Per Adam H. Beasley of the Miami Herald, coach Brian Flores didn't offer a timetable on when Williams might be healthy, so there's a chance the wide receiver has to devote much of his offseason to rehab and recovery.

Will have MRI on Monday
Williams suffered a sprained right knee during Sunday's win over the Jets and will have an MRI on Monday to confirm the diagnosis, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: The team will do additional testing to determine the extent of the damage, but the hope is it's no worse than a sprained knee. That would likely mean the undrafted rookie misses additional time, although the exact recovery timeline will be determined by the results of the MRI. This was Williams' best game of the season, as he posted five receptions for 72 yards and two touchdowns.

Exits with knee injury
Williams is questionable to return to Sunday's divisional tilt against the Jets due to a knee injury, Chris Perkins of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Williams also briefly left the field due to a wrist injury in the third quarter, but he managed to return in that instance. The rookie's second malady of the day now comes in the form of a knee issue, the severity of which caused him to be carted to the locker room. Given that Williams was forced out with less than eight minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, it appears probable that he won't return Week 9. Prior to leaving the field, Williams caught five of nine targets for 72 yards and two…read more

Retakes field versus Jets
Williams (wrist) has returned to Sunday's divisional contest against the Jets, Adam H. Beasley of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: Williams briefly left the field to undergo evaluation for a right wrist issue, and his test results appear to have brought good news. The rookie's return is a notable boon for Miami's aerial attack, as he accumulated a pair of receiving scores during the first half.

Leaves Sunday's game
Williams (wrist) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Jets.
Analysis: Williams was forced out of Sunday's contest early in the third quarter. Prior to leaving the field, the undrafted rookie out of Colorado State recorded four catches for 60 yards and two touchdowns.

Targeted seven times in loss
Williams caught four of seven targets for 42 yards during Monday's 27-14 loss to Pittsburgh.
Analysis: After a pair of first-quarter touchdowns, the Steelers did well to stifle Williams and the Dolphins down the stretch. The rookie undrafted free agent has been a bright spot in what has otherwise been a dismal season for Miami, coming out of nowhere to record at least five targets in each game this season. The Dolphins don't have a lot of talent around Williams in the offense to make those opportunities count, however, and he has not been targeted inside the 10-yard line since Week 1 -- a pass…read more

Leads pass catchers in loss
Williams secured six of eight targets for 82 yards and returned one punt for 19 yards in the Dolphins' 31-21 loss to the Bills on Sunday. He also lost a fumble.
Analysis: Williams led the Dolphins in receptions and receiving yardage while checking in second in targets to DeVante Parker. The rookie's one miscue was costly, however, as he gave up the ball at Miami's 28-yard line with the Bills clinging to a 17-14 lead. The loose ball was recovered by Buffalo's Jerry Hughes and returned to the Dolphins' 11-yard line, and Cole Beasley crossed the goal line three plays later on a three-yard scoring grab. On the brighter side, both Williams' reception and receiving…read more

Six targets in loss
Williams caught two of six targets for 31 yards during Sunday's 17-16 loss to the Redskins.
Analysis: Williams' catch rate left much to be desired Week 6, as he wasn't able to efficiently connect with either Josh Rosen or Ryan Fitzpatrick. The undrafted rookie did look serviceable in the punt return game with Jakeem Grant (hamstring) absent, however. Heading into a Week 7 tilt against Buffalo's stout defense, Williams will be difficult to trust for fantasy purposes.

Leads team in targets
Williams caught four of seven targets for 46 yards during Sunday's 30-10 loss to the Chargers.
Analysis: Although Williams led the team in targets, he did little of note outside his long gain of 25 yards. This makes three straight games with exactly four receptions for Williams, while his 12 receptions on 25 targets during that span speaks to the current ineptitude of the team's passing attack. He should continue to command plenty of attention in the team's next game Oct. 13 against the Redskins, but his role is far from guaranteed to translate into valuable fantasy production.

Leads team in receiving
Williams caught four of 12 targets for 68 yards during Sunday's 31-6 loss to the Cowboys.
Analysis: Williams was peppered with targets on the day, and although he caught just one-third of the balls thrown his way, he still used his size to haul in some impressive receptions. The rookie has quietly led the team with 131 receiving yards on eight grabs over the last two games and seems to be emerging as a primary target in the passing game for an anemic Dolphins offense. Despite his recent success, Williams could have a tough time producing much in next Sunday's home matchup against the Chargers.

Lone bright spot for Miami
Williams caught four of six targets for 63 yards in Sunday's 43-0 loss to the Patriots.
Analysis: Williams has been perhaps the lone bright spot for the Dolphins through two weeks. The undrafted wide receiver's Week 1 touchdown is the only one Miami has scored through two weeks, and he was the team's only player to top 30 receiving yards in this one. Williams should have plenty of opportunities to accrue garbage-time stats moving forward, making him perhaps the Dolphins' most valuable fantasy commodity.

Scores first touchdown of career
Williams hauled in three of five targets for 24 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's 59-10 loss to Baltimore.
Analysis: Williams accounted for Miami's lone touchdown of the day, a toe-tapping connection with quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick with 14 seconds remaining in the second quarter. The undrafted rookie's end-zone grab made up for an earlier drop. It's certainly encouraging that Williams received early opportunities and capitalized, but it'll be difficult to count on him for consistent fantasy production given Miami's struggles on offense.

Locked in for roster spot
Williams appears to have locked down a roster spot, as he was held out of Thursday's preseason finale against the Saints, Joe Schad of The Palm Beach Post reports.
Analysis: The undrafted rookie out of Colorado State caught just five of 14 targets for 104 yards in three preseason games, but his strong work in practice throughout the spring and summer essentially made this a foregone conclusion. Williams presumably lands somewhere between fourth and sixth on the depth chart, with a chance to bump higher if the Dolphins trade Kenny Stills (leg). It isn't clear if Williams will have any role on offense Week 1 against the Ravens.
